David Arden
David Arden has devoted himself for over 20 years to the promotion of contemporary
music. He has been awarded the Kranichsteiner Prize at the Darmstadt Ferienkurse
fur Neue Musik, First Prize at the Gaudeamus International Competition for Contemporary
Music, and was a Prizewinner in the Carnegie Hall International Competition
for Contemporary Music. Mr. Arden has worked closely with composer Henryk Gorecki
in Europe, receiving his enthusiastic praise in a broadcast for Polish Television.
In 1993, Mr. Arden gave the US premiere of Gorecki's Sonata No. 1 in a New York
recital and was authorized by the composer to make the world premiere recoring
of his solo piano music. In addition , he has worked with and premiered pieces
by such notable composers as Olivier Messiaen, Luciano Berio, Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, Earle Brown, Jacob Druckman,
Bernard Rands and Carson Kievman. He has toured
Asia, the South Pacific and South America and has made radio broadcasts in Belgium,Holland,
France, Germany, England, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and the
US.
