Born in Zywiec, Poland, Maciej Pietraszko began his music studies with professor Szymon Piatek, followed by Professor Zdzislaw Stolaczyk, trombonist with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra (NPRSO). In 2002, Mr. Pietraszko received his Masters Degree from the Academy of Music, in Katowice, where he studied with Jan Gorny, Principal Trombonist in the NPRSO. During his studies at the Music Academy, Mr. Pietraszko became Principal Trombonist of the Silesian Philharmonic and in 2000 became a member of NPRSO.

Mr. Pietraszko has been involved in many festivals internationally and locally and has won numerous competitions. Amongst these are the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition, First Prize at the National Chamber Ensemble Competition, the International Brass Competition in Gdansk, Grand Prix at the National Trombone Festival in Warsaw, and Grand Prize at The International Wind Competition in Jastrzebie Zdroj.

As a soloist he has performed with the Silesian Philharmonic and the Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra in Katowice as well as the Capella Cracoviensis Chamber Orchestra in Krakow, American Youth Symphony in Los Angeles and New World Symphony in Miami Beach. Mr. Pietraszko joined both the American Youth Symphony and Debut Orchestra in 2002 as Principal Trombonist. As an orchestra member he has performed under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas, Hans Graf, HK Gruber, Peter Oundjian, Antoni Wit, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Krzysztof Penderecki, Gabriel Chmura, Jan Krenz, Larry Livingston, Sergiu Comissiona and John Barnett to name a few.
Mr. Pietraszko has also performed in several international orchestra festivals such as the Internationale Junge Orchesterakademie in Germany and the Idyllwild Arts Summer Festival Orchestra in the USA.

Maciej Pietraszko has also extensive musical education experience in Europe and the United States. He was a trombone teacher in a Elementary and Seconary School of Music in Zywiec, a coach for a number of Wind Ensambles and teaches an on going master class program and has several private students.

From 1996-1997, Mr. Pietraszko received a scholarship from both the Polish Minister of Culture and Art and the Academy of Music in Katowice. In 2002, he received a scholarship to study at the USC Thornton School of Music with Terry Cravens. During 2002 and 2003 academic years he also received the Brass Quintet Scholarship while continuing his classical training. In addition, he began studying with jazz trombone legend, Bill Watrous, all at the USC Thornton School of Music.

Currently Mr. Pietraszko is a member of New World Symphony, a unique America's Orchestral Academy.
