Active as a soloist, concertmaster and chamber musician, Thomas Moore, Violinist, has performed world-wide in tours and concerts throughout Europe, the Soviet Union, South Africa, Canada, the United States, and South America. Born into a musical family, music studies began at an early age and culminated in doctoral study at the Eastman School of Music in New York. Live broadcasts and filming for video and television have included productions for National Education Television, Voice of America, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, National Public Radio, SABC-TV, and European Television.
As Concertmaster, Moore has held positions in the United States with chamber and symphony orchestras, ballet and opera orchestras, and in Capetown, South Africa he was Concertmaster for the Nico Malan Opera House, in addition to performing in chamber groups. While touring world-wide with the Pro Arte Quartet, Mr. Moore was Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the University of Wisconsin and served as Concertmaster of the Wisconsin Chamber Symphony. Research grants have ranged from research on the manuscripts of Juan Arriaga in Bilbao, Spain, establishment of a multiracial string program in South Africa, to transcriptions of songs by Debussy and Ravel for violin and piano.
Mr. Moore came from Wisconsin to Miami, joined the Florida Philharmonic as Concertmaster, and was appointed to the University of Miami as Professor of Violin and Chamber Music. Currently, he holds an appointment as Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the New World School of the Arts and is Professor Emeritus of the University of Miami School of Music.
Professor Moore is violinist with the South Beach Chamber Ensemble and toured with them in Brasil and Argentina in 2006 and 2007. Moore was invited to be a violinist with the Vermont Mozart Festival for the summer 2006 and 2007.
