SHORT BIOGRAPHY:

Valeria Proaño was born in Quito,Ecuador. At the age of 15 she started working as a professional musician singing in different club bands and recording jingles. After graduating from high school she decided to relocate to Miami to pursue her life's passion; music. Valeria begun her professional musical studies at Miami College where she first studied classical voice. While in college she was surrounded by many jazz musicians who greatly influenced her perception of music. She continued her studies at the world-renowned jazz program at the University of Miami where she was a scholarship recipient (including two by the Grammy-Award winning Latin artist Jon Secada). Ms. Proano, a Downbeat Student Music Award Winner, earned her Bachelor's degree in Studio Music & Jazz in 2002. For the past 13 years, Valeria has been performing professionally in diverse venues such as the casinos in Atlantic City, jazz clubs in Philadelphia and Belgium, cafes and clubs in Ecuador, a special reception for the Tour de France 2001, private events in New York and Delaware, and all over South Florida. Besides performing, Valeria has recorded jingles for television and radio, as well as studio projects for other artists. Currently she is constantly concentrating on her performing career as well as teaching and directing a children's choir as part of a non-profit music organization which she helped to create.
