Yuki Numata has an avid interest in the performance of new music, and as a result of this, she has had the opportunity to work closely with composers such as Betsy Jolas, John Zorn, Charles Wuorinen and Steve Reich. Yuki received her Bachelor of Music Degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Zvi Zeitlin. There, she performed twice with the Eastman Philharmonia Orchestra, premiering Jeff Myers' violin concerto, Metamorphosis, and also as the winner of the school concerto competition. Yuki received her Master of Music Degree from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Andrew Jennings. She has had the opportunity to attend several music festivals including Music Academy of the West, Banff Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Center. Most recently, she was a Fromm Fellow at Tanglewood where she focused specifically on the performance of new music.
