Spring Newsletter April 2007 |

Greetings!
WE HAVE TERRIFIC NEWS FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS & SUPPORTERS. We have raised the needed funding to offer the 2nd Annual SoBe Music Institute Summer Program for CHILDREN, SENIORS & ADULTS in Miami-Dade County.
This funding will pay for all teaching faculty, staff, and related administrative costs, as well as this summer's operating expenses, and amounts to a significant donation!(*see below) However....
|
We still need your help!
We are still in need of $25,000 in immediate financial support for an Instrument, Library & Equipment Fund to be able to provide each child use of a high-quality musical instrument to take home for practice during their participation in the program regardless of their family's economic condition. Also we need materials and equipment to insure the highest quality programs and outcome including: workbooks, textbooks, and performance scores; computers and music software, multimedia projector and screen, DVD player, sound system, speakers, mixer, microphones, and other necessary equipment. This will allow us to offer the highest-quality music education programs to children, seniors, and adults in Miami-Dade County. We will really appreciate it if you would consider a donation for our Summer Programs.

The summer's program will run for eight weeks, and includes:
· 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Music for Seniors - Multimedia presentations of Music from Around the World and Music & Spirituality (given in both English and Spanish); Special Afternoon Performances (SoBe Music Institute Ensemble & others); Afternoon Instrument & Voice Workshops.
· 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Music for Youth - This program is designed to introduce children and teens to the wonderful world of music through the use of unique interactive computer music programs, musicianship classes, private instruction and performance activities. Our instructors worked with the children and teens to promote learning and experiencing music without intimidation. The program concludes with a concert open to the public. The unique and multifaceted immersion program is designed not only to be fun and exciting, but also to help the students develop a deepened sense of musical phrase, structure and form, as well as improve their performance skills.
· 6:00 p.m. Music for Adults - This program is designed to give adults a complete immersion in music. Adults will receive private interaction with a qualified and inspirational instructor in voice or the instrument of their choice, ensemble performance practice, and musicianship classes (theory, rhythm, sight-singing and other music fundamentals). Adults will also participate in an End of Summer Concert open to the public.
Registration during May - Program runs June to August (see below)
