Greetings!
YES! ITS OFFICIAL!
We have signed a letter of agreement with the City Manager of Miami Beach for the use of the historic Carl Fisher Clubhouse for the SoBe Music Institute Summer 2007 Programs for children, adults and seniors. Our most sincere gratitude to City of Miami Beach Commissioners Saul Gross and Mattie Bower; Mayor David Dermer and Executive Assistant A.C. Weinstein and CANDO Committee chair, Nancy Liebman; as well as several others for their tireless efforts, without which this new beginning would not have been possible.
We will be moving into the new facility this weekend and will begin Institute operations there next week. Our immediate activities include studio, equipment, and office set up; several days of assessing and enrolling the many children who wish to participate in our free summer Music for Youth afternoon program (enrollment is limited); as well as enrolling students for the Music for Adult evening program and the early afternoon Music for Seniors. Additionally, we will be holding various faculty & staff organizational and curriculum meetings, course training sessions, and a working luncheon for advisors and supporters to discuss how to make SoBe Music Institute a sustainable long-term organization. The luncheon will include a special performance by professional musician, classical guitarist, and faculty member, Paul Martin. If you feel you wish to make a meaningful difference in the growth and direction of the institute and would like to attend the advisors and supporter's luncheon or for media/press information, please contact Ms. Nadia De Leon, Administrative manager at nadia@sobemusic.org or call (305) 674-9220. |
