ONE WEEK TRAVEL/STUDY RESIDENCY

STUDY DAILY WITH OUR AWARD WINNING FACULTY: TAICHI AKUTSU - VIOLIN, DAVID MORRISSEY, CELLO - THOMAS MOORE, VIOLIN - YUKI LEE NUMATA - VIOLIN - MATTHEW WAY- CONTRABASS - ENJOY A WEEK IN BEAUTIFUL SOUTH BEACH AND SURROUNDING AREAS

  • Immerse yourself in a week long intensive study of violin, cello or bass performance. Work on your playing in a comprehensive and comfortable environment with the help of Taichi Akutsu, David Morrissey, Yuki Lee Numata or Matthew Way, SoBe Studio Instructors and members of the New World Symphony, or Thomas Moore, SoBe Music Instructor and Master Violinist.
  • Take the time for self evaluation and allow your unique and individual performance style a chance to emerge.
  • SoBe Music Institute Travel/Study Residency offers a string player time and space to explore and conceivably reach his/her musical goals much earlier than otherwise anticipated.
  • Take a break from routine and explore exciting South Beach and all South Florida has to offer.. within a short distance you will find the Everglades, the Florida Keys, New Performing Art Centers, Museums, other beautiful beaches ,etc.

Fee ($1330 - $1880) Includes: **

  • Five days of private study/master classes with Mr. Akutsu, Mr. Morrissey, Mr. Moore, Ms Numata or Mr. Way (1 hour morning session - 1 hour mid-day session - 1 hour late afternoon session) - 3 Hours daily (Lunch provided during mid-day sessions)
  • Six Days/Seven nights in beautiful South Beach Studio (studio is pre-stocked with beverages and snacks) *
  • Evenings and two extra days are free to explore the beautiful and exciting South Miami Beach and other South Florida sites - Student discount coupons provided as well as a tour of Miami's new multi-million dollar Performing Arts Center.
  • Airfare within the US and transportation to and from the Airport included (International Students pay a supplement)

* Art Deco Furnished Studio in the heart of South Beach (2 1/2 blocks from beach). This lovely first floor studio apartment is basking in gentle daylight and furnished with a new queen size futon bed, writing desk, lamps, breakfast table, and chairs, digital cable TV, high speed wireless internet, a/c, linens, towels, and everything you will need for a great vacation. It has a kitchenette with all needed dishes and glasses, cookware, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, blender, etc. - full fridge and a stove. Has a nicely tiled bathroom with large French bath/shower and large closet. Parking permit included. Picture window to front garden. This is in a beautiful Art Deco building 2 1/2 blocks from the famous ocean drive, beaches and shopping. Located in the heart of SoBe (South Miami Beach, Florida). Available to grown-up and responsible students only (no revelry in the studio) - if you like to party or shop, the famous South Beach clubs and stores are very close but far enough to not hear the noise.  There are several convenience stores, supermarkets and whole food stores nearby - as well as many restaurants of differing prices and quality.

SoBe Music Institute (Miami's Institute for Performing Arts) was founded in 2005 by distinguished composer and professor Carson Kievman (PhD Princeton University, MFA California Institute of the Arts, composer-in-residence for the Tanglewood Music festival, the New York Shakespeare Festival, Donaueschingen Festival, NationalTheater Mannheim, The Florida Philharmonic Orchestra and the Pennsylvania Ballet, winner of multiple awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and The Florida Department of State, among others).
